RECRUITING (HIRING) PROCESS

Transcend Security doesn’t differentiate itself from those industries that provide a tangible product to an end-user such as automobiles, food items, computers, cell phones, etc. To be a successful company in those areas, a company must ensure that the “product” they deliver to the end-user is of the highest quality - and Transcend Security feels the security-world should be no different.

Our people, specifically our team of security professionals, are our tangible product. And by maintaining this mindset; the quality of our security professionals will always form the pillars of our “employee-centric” approach.

Our hiring process utilizes state-of-the-art methods; from enhanced background screening, to a comprehensive test portfolio that includes pre-employment tests designed by Harvard University psychologists. We utilize these state-of-the-art assessment tools to increase the effectiveness of our employee selection and retention process. This technology features aptitude, and personality / skills evaluations that help to identify the best candidate for each position.

The Transcend Assessment Center is a web-based pre-employment assessment system that features:

Our assessment system increases the effectiveness of our employee selection and retention process.

Rather than using industry norms for interviewing applicants, Transcend Security never hires a security professional without having that candidate first complete a full assessment - this portfolio can take up to 45 minutes to complete. This comprehensive portfolio includes pre-employment assessments designed by Harvard University psychologists and other leading pre-employment testing professionals. The goal of the assessment is to procure as much relevant information as possible on a prospective officer candidate to determine if that candidate will continue to the next level of the Transcend Security recruitment process.

Further, our intense recruitment process covers everything from these initial state-of-the-art assessments to enhanced background screening. We utilize these tools to increase the effectiveness of the employee selection and retention process. This technology features aptitude, personality, and skills assessments geared specifically to the security industry, and consequently provides us with the relevant, objective data we need to make a more informed hiring decision. in order to identify the best candidate for each position.

The assessment process consists of two (2) main phases:

1) Application - Basic biographical data (i.e., previous, current, and all relevant experience such as military history, work history, etc.)

2) Assessments - Three (3) part assessment designed to exam aptitude, personality, and skill-set. The information obtained provides relevant, objective data that assists our Recruiting Manager in making a more informed hiring decision. Specifically, the assessments are:

Basic Skills Test

Criteria Basic Skills Test (CBST) - The CBST measures a person's basic math and verbal skills. The CBST is a 20-minute, 40-item test that can help measure the requisite skills required to succeed in a wide variety of entry-level security positions. Test items assess basic grammar, spelling, math, and language skills.

Attention Skills Test

The Criteria Attention Skills Test (CAST) - The CAST is a short (9-12 minute) test that measures attention and concentration. The CAST consists of four sub-tests: Divided Attention, Selective Attention: Vigilance, Selective Attention: Filtering, and Perceptual Reaction Time. Because it measures the ability to sustain focus and maintain concentration, the CAST can help predict employee success in a wide variety of positions.

Workplace Productivity Profile

Workplace Productivity Profile (WPP) - The WPP is a personality test that is used to predict whether an applicant will be a conscientious, productive, and reliable employee. It measures four traits: Conscientiousness, Perseverance, Integrity/Honesty, and Attitudes towards Theft and Fraud. The first two traits (Conscientiousness and Perseverance) relate to a person's likely work habits. The latter two (Honesty and Attitudes towards Theft) relate to a person's integrity and perceived risk of engaging in counterproductive work behaviors such as theft.
