VEHICLE FLEET TELEMATICS
Transcend Security utilizes the Geotab Open Fleet Management Platform (Telematics) in all fleet vehicles. Telematics combines GPS technology and integrated telecommunications; which gives us a real-time snapshot of everything we need to know about each vehicle in our fleet to ensure that each vehicle is performing those tasks assigned to it, and doing so in a safe and secure manner.
Our Geotab telematics system sends, receives and stores information about each vehicle in our fleet, providing us with concrete, real-time vehicle tracking and diagnostics. We are able to monitor driver movements, driver routing, vehicle speed and idle times, system diagnostics; which in-the-end, ensure that our patrol team is performing efficiently and effectively; while also decreasing vehicle downtime and thus extending each vehicles longevity. The fleet Risk & Safety Reports provide advanced insight into our patrol drivers’ on-road activities. Risk and safety scores are assigned to individual drivers based on various factors: speeding, seatbelt usage, braking habits, degree of corner turn, acceleration, etc. Also, internal reports illustrate daily, weekly, or monthly driving trends.
From fuel usage to fuel fill-ups, Fuel Efficiency Reports provide details on all aspects of fuel usage; assisting us in identifying and reducing waste. With a GPS tracking system, our management is able to achieve fleet fuel efficiency by better managing routes, vehicle speed, idle time, and overall vehicle maintenance issues.
With Geotab, management creates custom zones for each client. These geo-fenced zones show vehicle activity, in REAL-TIME, within that zone. The Security Operations Center is alerted when a patrol vehicle has entered a zone. If the patrol vehicle leaves a zone too early, or if the patrol vehicle stays idle with no activity for a set period of time, that patrol vehicle will be notified immediately by the Security Operations Center to inquire why.
With “breadcrumb trail tracking” our Security Operations Center has advanced insight into our drivers’ on-road performance. At every turn, this technology records all driving details and compares that data to policies defined in the software; allowing our fleet to manage by exception and highlight if something is not being accomplished.
The GO TALK feature enhances operational efficiencies by providing spoken word alerts to drivers while on the road in REAL-TIME. Management can set custom verbal feedback notifications for various safety events like speeding, and/or performance issues such as leaving a client zone too early.
Transcend management can create custom rules and exceptions depending on specific client needs. A rule is made up of conditions that the server uses to continuously validate incoming GPS and telematics data. Whenever a violation of a rule occurs, the system records the event as the exception event. Management can then act upon this information and take action accordingly.
